On August 8, 2016, FINA has agreed to extend its partnership with Mikasa, allowing Mikasa to continue being the exclusive supplier of water polo balls for all the FINA-governed water polo competitions between 2017 and 2020. This will also include the FINA World Championships which will be held in Budapest (HUN) in 2018 and in Gwangju (KOR) in 2019.
Mikasa will also provide balls other FINA competitions, such as:
- The World Leagues
- The Junior World Championships in 2017 and 2019
- The Youth World Championships in 2018 and 2020
- The World Cups in 2018
